These are plans that the Japanese wrote out for their strategy at Iwo Jima

Arisaka Type 99 battle rifle - 7.7x58mm
The standard rifle for the Japanese was the Ariska 99 bolt action rifle. Fired a 7.7x58mm round

Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun.
The Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun was used by the Japanese as well to fend off advancing Americans on the beach.

Type 99 Light Machine Gun (7.7x58mm Arisaka)
Type 99 Light Machine gun was used by the Japanese also.

Original Colt M1911 (dated 1913) - .45 acp
The Original Colt M1911 (dated 1913) was used by the Americans. It shot a .45 caliber round.

Nambu Type 14 Pistol chambered for 8mm Nambu Pistol Ammunition
The Nambu Type 14 Pistol was used by Japanese Officers. It carried the 8mm round.

A pair of M1903A1 Springfield sniper rifles (.30-06) with 7.8x Unertl scopes. The guns pictured here were the actual rifles used in Letters from Iwo Jima (one is primary, the other is a back-up), and the rifle was fired by Master Sergeant Tom Minder, one of the technical advisors, in the film.
The M1903 Springfield was the U.S. sniper rifle. It fired the .30-06 round. Very powerful round.

M1 Garand semiautomatic Rifle with leather M1917 sling - 30.06
The M1 Garand is the most recognized gun that the Americans used. It was a 8 round semi-automatic rifle.
